A Nelson woman tricked four people out of hundreds of dollars with a fake iPhone scam on Facebook Marketplace.
A Facebook iPhone scam left a series of victims hundreds of dollars out of pocket, including an 11-year-old child.
Pingo Rangipaioauni Manawaiti, 20, appeared in the Nelson District Court on Monday, where she pleaded guilty to four charges of dishonestly accessing a computer system.
According to the police summary of facts, from November 2020 to March 2021, Manawaiti used Facebook Marketplace to advertise iPhone XRs for sale online.
The first incident happened on November 13, when a victim agreed to buy the cell phone for $257.50 through Facebook Messenger.
