Online sellers in Bristol are being urged to be extra vigilant after a recent surge in money transfer scams.
Over the past few months there has been an increase of scams which see buyers pretending to have transferred money but instead taking off without paying for the goods.
The seller has then unsuccessfully tried to chase the buyer for payment via phone or online but is left empty handed.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “There have been several incidents in Bristol and South Gloucestershire where a seller has advertised something for sale and the buyer has agreed to pay for it when picking it up.
“When the suspect(s) attend the address to collect the item, victims are then asked to put their details into a fake banking app on the buyer’s phone.
