Police say scammers have infiltrated the NSW Health online booking system and charged people hundreds of dollars to book vaccine appointments they weren’t eligible for.
- Last week priority vaccination appointments were made available for some authorised workers in LGAs of concern
- People who weren’t eligible for these appointments booked them through an online link
- Police say the private link was circulated on social media app WeChat
NSW Police’s cyber crime squad is working to track down about 60 people who were vaccinated at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney’s inner west last Friday.
Police said these people fell victim to an online scam and unknowingly took bookings which were allocated for healthcare workers.
A private online link, which was shared on social media app WeChat, which allowed people to book in for a jab despite being ineligible for priority bookings.
