You might have a chuckle if you know the episode, but it is also a tangible reminder of the way many scams were perpetrated. You saw the person attempting to part you from your hard-earned cash and you could look at the whites of their eyes. Even if you were tempted, in order to hand over money there would probably have had to be a walk to the bank to withdraw cash, a walk back to the pub and the physically act of handing over a wad of notes to a man with a greedy glint in his eye.
