As North Carolina prepares to announce the winners on Thursday of the second round of its COVID-19 vaccine lottery, here are some things to know about how the lottery works, the prizes, the chances of winning, and how to avoid being victimized by crooks trying to take advantage of the program to scam people:
The COVID-19 vaccine lottery prizes
To encourage people to get vaccinated, North Carolina’s Your Shot at $1 Million Summer Cash Drawing program giving away four prizes of $1 million cash each to adults who have been vaccinated against COVID-19. It also has four college scholarship investments of $125,000 each for those 12 through 17 who have been vaccinated.
