EVEN garda stations are getting those scam phone calls.
Laois-Offaly gardaí reported this morning that a station in the division has just received two calls from “Amazon”.
A non-Irish woman on the line told gardaí that there was a parcel for delivery that would cost them €49. In order to resolve “a problem with their account”, personal information was required. It wasn’t long before she hung up.
Gardaí said on the Laois-Offaly Garda Siochána Facebook page today: “Our colleagues in Tullamore Garda Station received two calls into the station phone from “Amazon”.
“A non-Irish female speaking, stating there is a parcel for delivery but there is €49 due for delivery. She didn’t know whose name was on the account and she hung up. “Please be wary of scam callers, regardless of who they say they represent.
