BUCYRUS—Crawford County Sheriff Scott Kent is warning residents not to fall for a scam involving warrants for people’s arrests.
“We do not call people when they have a warrant nor do we ever ask for a card number or bank account information,” said Kent on Thursday evening.
He said the Bucyrus Police Department is currently investigating at least one case in which someone was scammed and the Sheriff’s Office has received a couple of calls about the scammers.
“A couple of people have already been scammed out of money, over $1,000,” said Kent.
He said that the scammer is calling people and stating that the resident has a warrant for their arrest or one has been issued due to the person failing to show up for jury duty.
