NEW DELHI: The National Green Tribunal has formed a two-member committee to conduct a functional audit of State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Uttar Pradesh, to find out how frequent blatant violations are taking place. A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice A K Goel directed the setting up of the committee comprising Additional Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests and the Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

“Apart from considering the remedial action against violations, two-member Committee comprising Additional Secretary, MoEF&CC, to be nominated by the Secretary MoEF&CC and the Chairman, CPCB need to conduct functional audit of SEIAA, UP to find out how frequent blatant violations are taking place and how the situation can be remedied,” the bench said.
