NEWTOWN — The police department is warning residents to be on the lookout for scam calls from individuals claiming to be from Eversource, the large New England energy provider company.

In a Facebook post Saturday, the department told residents that scammers have been taking advantage of the “high demand utility season,” pretending to be employees at the company and trying to scare customers into sharing sensitive personal information or money.
